Free Hearts, Love, and Valentines: Patterns, Tutorials, and Links 2024

My own free creative art project ideas, tutorials and pattern "from my heart and with my hands"!

Simple art from my heart quilting to make a paper +fabric card, wall hanging, or little prayer flag to send or bring with you to someone who needs it!

You don't even need a pattern for some thing like these! I made these two the night before I personally delivered them to family members independently hospitalized on different floors of the same hospital after emergency hospitalizations.

Lifted my own heart to make and set them up in their windowsills as other caring cards arrived from long distance mailings.

My own heart shaped or themed tutorials:

Made for a quilted swap. I made 3 of these but never heard from the recipients or received my own gifts in return. But they were still made with care and sent with prayer!

My String Pieced Prayer Pocket Pillow make with strings or solids and use the little pocket in the back...for sending good wishes of any kind.

Michele Bilyeu Creates With Heart and Hands: Free Patterns for Cancer Awareness: Quilts, Ribbons, Quilts, Caps, Pillows, Pouches, and other Projects

With Heart and Hands

Perfect for post surgery for either cardiac or breast cancer patients, hugging a pillow over the heart after cardiac surgery or under the arm after breast surgery have been shown to help significantly with post-operative pain. You hugs them as you cough or just need something/someone to hug at any time!

And

And from around the web that weaves its way into our days and often into late nights!

Here's some blasts from my saved past! A lot of them disappeared over the past decade. Websites, blogs and sadly a huge number of bloggers. I've been blogging since 2006! And I saved, shared, and promoted and gave to others always for free and still continue blogging about it all the best I can on a cell phone 😅

And now....my collection of more than a hundred links for free heart shaped quilt blocks or heart themed quilt or craft patterns all in one place for you to check out for special gift for a loved one, or for another Valentine's Day in the future!

Please thank anyone who offers free patterns or sewing tutorials.

We blog, sew, and give away to make our hearts and others happy because we are blessed to do so in return.

Love Bugs

There is something extra special about receiving a handmade Valentine. These Valentine ladybugs are a cute way to let someone know how much you care.

It's a fun and easy project that even the kids can help out with. You can make one or a whole class set of these adorable love bugs. It's okay to be creative with the colors.

This is a great way to use up some of the bits of scrapbooking paper you may already have.

Materials

  • 1 piece of white cardstock to print the heart template
  • 1 piece of colored cardstock
  • 1 piece of coordinating patterned paper
  • 2 small brads - I used heart shaped ones, but plain brass ones work fine
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • black pen or marker
  • 1/8 inch hole punch
  • 2 small googly eyes and glue (optional)

Directions can be found here:
